0930 – 1100 Human Durability
Derrick McManus, Speaker | Facilitator | AuthorShot 14 times in less than 5 seconds with a high-powered rifle
Lying on the ground for 3 hours before rescue
Doctors say they don’t know how he survived
2 years later returned to elite Police duties as a sniper and counter-terrorist operative
The first doctor said, “When I first saw him I thought he was already dead … I actually don’t know how he survived, he’s an amazing human being”
Derrick now speaks about ‘Human Durability’. Human Durability is about going beyond resilience to sustaining optimal performance even under pressure.  It’s about building mental fitness, agility and strength.
These principles are applicable to all high-performance people, teams and organisations and Derrick now travels internationally to speak to people, leaders, organisations and universities.
The University of South Australia’s School of Psychology see such potential in the Human Durability philosophy that they are collaborating with Derrick in world first research.
Today, Derrick will tell us about the 14 bullets, the 3 hours lying on the ground and how he was already cracking jokes while the bullets were still hitting him.
Most importantly though, Derrick will tell us how we can manage our own challenges as individuals or leaders of organisations and the association so that we to can go beyond resilience and sustain optimal performance in our endeavours.
